Tamarisk Gardens is a brilliant luxury bungalow community designed by Los Angeles architects McCarthy, Zemke & Hartfelder. Known for their Midcentury homes in Pasadena, Bel-Air and Brentwood, this collection of 28 residences are the trio’s only work to be built in the desert. The style and amenities that attracted high-end clients in L.A. is evident throughout the neighborhood. Each home features a private entrance with foyer, double-sided floating fireplaces, built-in wet bar and formal dining room. Living areas overlook exterior courtyards with a barbecue patio accessible from the kitchen. Guest rooms open to the outside with private courtyards that could originally be enclosed to create more interior space. The pool and spa area is shaded by a metal scalloped Ramada with Midcentury style and a separate cabana is surrounded by park-like grounds. The six bungalows on tour, several of which have been on previous tours, include the home of “Shahs of Sunset” star Reza Farahan and the homes of ice cream moguls Burt and Shirley Baskin and Irv Robbins. In honor of the former residents, chocolate martinis made with Baskin-Robbins ice cream will be served poolside. The proceeds from the tour will be used to maintain and improve the community's common recreation areas.
