Rarely open to the outside world, Marrakesh Country Club has long been Palm Desert's best-kept style secret. Designed by the undisputed master of the Hollywood Regency style, John Elgin Woolf, and built from 1969-1978 by Johnny Dawson, developer of Thunderbird and El Dorado Country Clubs, the 364 "little pink palaces" on 155 rolling green acres, with it's whimsical outbuildings and almost surrealistically lush landscape, Marrakesh is truly the 'Jewel of the Desert" currently celebrating its 50th anniversary!
Six homes, with decors ranging from intact 1970 Pop Artful and Mad Moroccan Mod to High Regency Glam and the Wow of Now will be on display, with the tour culminating in a festive "Fun Finale" poolside reception with sophisticated refreshments and surprise offerings from our first-ever pop-up pro shop.
If you're wondering "What comes after MCM?," we may have the answer, at Marrakesh: And Then There's Mod!
Proceeds for this tour will be earmarked toward the "archival cataloging project," for the just launched initiative to investigate and support Marrakesh's candidacy for Historic District status in the City of Palm Desert - if successful it would become the City's largest and most ambitious one to date.
