Legendary architect A. Quincy Jones created landmark buildings throughout the Coachella Valley, most notably the Annenberg Estate known as “Sunnylands” in Rancho Mirage. His thoughtful style is evident in the bold, sleek, simplicity of Country Club Estates, which was his first (and only) planned community in Palm Springs.
Built in 1965, the neighborhood is a remarkably intact resort enclave of 30 residences gathered around gardens and a communal pool. White stacked masonry blocks are a dominant design feature throughout the complex. Light-filled homes open onto patios with green spaces and mountain views. Most residences still have the original atriums that were a signature Jones design, maximizing light and providing private interior outdoor space.
Floor to ceiling glass and open floor plans create an airy spaciousness. Some homes have been carefully restored to preserve authentic period details. Others have been updated with a twist on midcentury design.
Join us for this leisurely walking tour of homes and vintage car display. Long-time residents will be on hand to welcome guests and answer questions about A. Quincy Jones’ modern take on desert living.
Proceeds from this tour will fund grounds improvements and desert landscaping.
