The “grandest” and the original! Featuring a stunning variety of modernist interiors, this tour will showcase at least nine midcentury “lifestyle” condominium units designed by the architectural firm of Palmer & Krisel in 1962. The strong midcentury architecture of Canyon View Estates (which includes the exuberant use of patterned concrete screen block) is frequently featured in national and international design and fashion magazines. Your ticket puts you inside the architecture so you can see how deftly the architects’ double-gable roof lines bring mountain views and abundant natural light into the interiors. The ticket price includes a collectible tour map and a copy of PSPF’s popular 40-page tribute journal The Architecture of Desert Leisure. A portion of the proceeds will help fund PSPF grants to the participating Canyon View Estates homeowners associations.
The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to educate and promote public awareness of the importance of preserving the historical resources and architecture of the city of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley area.” PSPF offers free membership as a public benefit.
