A uh-one, a uh-two ... and a turn on the bubble machine as the Palm Springs Modern Committee invites you to yet another can’t miss gala at the estate of the Original Gangsta of Easy Listening.... Master of the Accordion.... Champagne King ... LAWRENCE WELK!!! The newly restored, custom designed 1951 estate by “designer to the stars” Joe Pawling is a hidden gem of midcentury modern architecture, and now open to you, our distinguished guests. Lawrence Welk, star of the longest running and most successful variety show in history embodied America’s innocent optimism from the Eisenhower era thru the 1970s. And, despite the counter culture hot on his heels, the Vater von Kitsch held on tightly to the quickly fading era of polka and brass band sing-alongs. So Welkcome one and all to our campiest celebration yet. With special “Wunnerful” guest appearances and accordion music to soothe your soul, come dance under the stars to the lush champagne sounds along with all your favorite music of the 50s 60s and 70s. Arrive attired in your favorite Lawrence Welk decade, from hoop skirts to leisure suits…after all variety is the spice of life!
