Be prepared for your Aloha spirit to soar when Ambassador of Americana, Charles Phoenix sweeps us away on a fun-filled midcentury Hawaiian slide show extravaganza.
With his keen expertise, unbridled enthusiasm, and eagle-eye for oddball detail, Charles lavishes spirited commentary on vintage Kodachrome color slides, taken by tourists “dream vacationing” in Hawaii in the 1950s & 60s.
Experience the stories and glories of the island’s iconic attractions, resort hotels, famous fashions, exotic architecture, unexpected oddities, legendary luaus, marvelous modes of transportation, the tourists and more!
You will never experience our 50th state the same way again!
A Soda Pop Reception and Book Signing will follow the presentation in the museum’s Meyerman Sculpture Garden where you will enjoy a Meet & Greet with Charles Phoenix as he signs copies of his latest book, Addicted to Americana.
Festive dress is encouraged but not expected.
Presented by Palm Springs Art Museum’s Photography Collection Council with support from Vicki & Bill Hood and Dirk Biermann & Drake Russell.
